I'm not worried. I haven't heard anything about WNY being low on salt, and even if we were - we never use Salt when it snows anyway, only with risk of icing. Driving in the snow is easy enough.

I never comment on Giz, but I did. It was mostly a rant about why salt on roads sucks though.

I'm glad that the salt is running out too. Now maaaaaybe they won't over do it. I've slid on salt in an intersection. Sometimes they put down so much it becomes like driving on marbles.

South Dakota resident here. We don't use salt - it's too cold to be effective. We use sand, which cars drive over to help break up the ice and snow tension. We let it melt in due time. We just know how to drive on it. I'm not exaggerating when from early October to about 3 weeks ago, we had a constant 1.5" sheet of ice on all roads but the highway. Then it was warm for a week and everything melted and we got a few inches (inches=nothing) this week.

Southerners, salt is not a substitute for piss poor driving "skills"

Not everything closed early. The schools may have closed an hour early, but the FIRST Robotics team at LHS was still meeting. The roads weren't that bad. It was just slow going.
